Meet the Team

Paul Roper

PAUL ROPER

Paul came to McKellens, having trained with a multinational firm of accountants, because he wanted what he did to be of more direct help to clients. He deals particularly with start-ups and smaller businesses and heads up our bookkeeping and oversees our taxation & payroll services. Being a committed Christian Paul is very involved in church life and both he and Chris bring that ethos to the way McKellens does business. To get away from it all Paul enjoys long walks in the mountains although the length is not always unrelated to map reading ability!

CHRIS BOOTH

Chris has a wide variety of experience in working for different accountancy firms in differing capacities developing, particularly, his IT and systems skills. In addition to these specialisms, Chris is also the director responsible for audit technical matters. In addition to his involvement in his local church Chris is an enthusiastic golfer but that elusive competition win always seems just out of reach.

Dave Proctor

DAVE PROCTOR

Dave, our tax manager, spent 17 long years at the Inland Revenue before seeing the light and joining McKellens. His particular area of expertise is handling HMRC investigations, dealing with, and not infrequently frustrating, former colleagues.

Dave is an ardent Barrow AFC supporter and, as they don’t always feature on Match of the Day, has to make do with the local derby at Stockport County.

SUE FERNS

Sue qualified and then worked in a large City Centre firm of accountants for a number of years before leaving to raise a family. Once her offspring ceased to toddle she joined us on a part time basis, drawing on her past experience in heading up our team dealing with smaller clients.

Sue has a penchant for crime in both her reading and TV viewing, more on the solving side rather than the ‘how to’ – or so she says!

FRAN COMERFORD

Fran joined us on a free transfer after a spell with Manchester United after their talent scouts had obviously made a big mistake. Fran is our ‘front of house’ and also deals with all the paperwork that we generate

She relaxes by listening to Irish music and with a game of darts at her local.

COLIN TOMKINSON

Colin joined McKellens from school and obviously enjoys working here so much that he’s still with us, a number of years later. He part qualified as an ACCA and specialises in charity and other regulated businesses.

Colin is a keen horse racing watcher and has been known to have the odd flutter although that big win always seems to falter just short of the winning post!
